About Us

The mission of the Bernoulli Center (CIB) is to support research in mathematics and its applications. We provide a supportive and stimulating environment for guest researchers to encourage collaboration amongst mathematicians and scientists working in different areas.

The scientific activity at CIB is mainly structured into thematic semester programs. Each program features a combination of workshops, seminars, conferences, lectures and mini-courses; it welcomes both short and long-term guests.

CIB is part of EPFL, one of Switzerland's two Federal Institutes of Technology with ETHZ. It has also been supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation ever since it began operating in 2002. We are privileged to have an International Scientific Advisory Board composed of mathematicians of the highest professional standing. They advise the Director and select the scientific program. The Center welcomes some 400 guests per year. The staff helps our visitors with practical issues of all kinds: visas, apartments, hotel reservations, financial support and reimbursements, offices, organization of seminars, conferences and workshops. We make sure that everyone has a profitable and enjoyable stay.

CIB is located in Lausanne, on the EPFL campus, close to the shores of Lake Leman (Lake Geneva). It is only forty minutes away from Geneva International Airport, which is directly linked to Lausanne by frequent trains. It benefits from all the conveniences and infrastructure of the EPFL campus and of the city of Lausanne.
